Training your mind and body together is a challenge, my training uses hypertrophy to force these two things to work together.
Hypertrophy training is “a method of strength training intended to induce the fastest muscle growth, or hypertrophy, possible, without losing efficacy over an extended period of time.” (source)
Hypertrophy training is different to your more traditional gym activity or just going for a run for example. Hypertrophy training is a connection that must be consciously created as it is not naturally established (like a response to an emotion.) It is a body response to a command. It is being able to focus on individual muscle contractions with constant tension to reach a desired physique goal; and this, is an educational process. It’s hard work, and it takes devotion and focus.
With my approach to training, the concept is pretty simple… What I do is help you achieve that focus and connection
The importance of mind-body connection – you’re driving.
The body is a vessel upon which we live in. Let’s call this vessel a car for the purpose of this article. This car has a driver, or rather a commander… the mind. The car will do whatever the driver tells it to; therefore, the driver is the most powerful commander on the planet.
For the driver (the mind) and the car (the body) to have a good journey (relationship), the driver must be aware of the vehicle they’re driving. They must become consciously aware of how it works, when it needs petrol, when it needs repair, when it needs a clean etc. but also when it is in good enough condition to push high motorway speeds. This awareness will allow the car to last and remain in good condition.
The mind and body connection is similar. When the mind is consciously aware of how the body is feeling and responding, it is then able to give it what it needs.
Treating the mind and body with love and care means giving both mental and physical stimulation. When the mind and body are in sync, the mind knows how to nourish the body properly and we then have a desire to take good care of it.
It starts with a choice – you can do this. Start small and build up.
